Teenage Interior Designer
When I was 6, our family moved across in a new house located in a new subdivision. Every morning mom would go pick up Baba (neither of my grandparents drove) to come and look after us while mom was at work. My dad and one of his friends build this house. My sister and I shared a room, but when I was a young teenager, she moved to a room down the hall, and I finally had my own room! My mom, being quite creative herself, allowed me to choose new carpet and have the walls painted and wallpapered. My first interior design experience! Guess what color I chose for the carpet? A blue/purple! Still my favorite color from the parrot that my cousin colored 8 years ago, as you saw in my earlier blog post. My walls were a light lilac and I chose a black and white patterned, psychedelic-like wall paper for a feature wall. I painted the each drawer of the dresser various purples with a few orange accents. I had learned to sew in Home Economics class, therefore designing and sewing accent pillows for my bed was definitely required. They were black corduroy with white felt lettering. The words “Peace” and “Love” are what I hand stitched on. It was 1969. Sewing is one of my favorite hobbies, to this day. And Peace & Love is what I wish every human on this earth used as their philosophy in life. The world would be a much better place.
Be kind……
